Prompt: Take cover

Jason held himself perfectly still, his body pressed against the wall, his weapon held up by his shoulder in one hand.

He knew they were nearby. He could feel them moving around, even though they were hardly making a sound.

A dark smile crossed Jason's face as it struck him just how adept they were at keeping silent, keeping hidden.

But as good as they were, Jason knew he was better.

He crept along the wall slowly, ever so slowly, his heartbeat picking up as he neared the corner. He held perfectly still, waiting, his hand tightening on his weapon.

The dark smile reappeared when he heard the shuffling of footsteps in the other room and he knew. It was now or never.

He whipped around the corner, coming into full view of the room, his weapon aimed in front of him, and he spotted them moving from one hiding position to the other.

The taller of the two stood frozen, looking at Jason like a deer caught in the headlights.

As Jason locked his arm out in front of him, taking aim directly at the taller one's chest, his target was spurred into action.

"It's him! Quick!! Take cover!!" he shouted, pushing his partner to the ground as he brought his own weapon up to aim towards Jason.

Jason let out a chuckle as his opponent showed no fear, no hesitation, his own weapon held out steady in front of him. So it was to be a stand off, Jason thought.

Both of their heads suddenly whipped to the left as the door opened and Elizabeth came walking in.

"What is going on?" she said, her eyes going big.

Jason bit back a curse and reached out, grabbing her by the arm and yanking her back behind the wall with him, just as his opponent opened fire.

"What in the world …" she began, but stopped abruptly when Jason reached into the back of his jeans and brought out another weapon.

"Here, take this," Jason said shoving it into her hand. "There's two of them in there."

"You can't expect me to use this?" Elizabeth said, glancing up at Jason incredulously.

"It's us or them," he said gravely.

Elizabeth gazed up at him, unblinking for a moment and then dropped her purse to the ground, taking a firm hold of the weapon Jason had shoved into her hand. Setting her jaw, she nodded once. "Okay."

"You sure you're up to this?" he asked.

Elizabeth nodded again. "I can do it."

Jason nodded as well and then licked his lips. He dipped his head down to speak into her ear, not wanting them to be overheard. "You stay here. I'm going to go around through the other entrance and try to get them from behind. Don't move until you hear me coming in the other side, alright?"

Elizabeth nodded again, her eyes blazing with adrenaline.

Jason moved to walk away and then stopped. Elizabeth watched him curiously and then gasped in surprised when one arm of his snaked around her waist, pulling her hard against his chest.

Jason dipped his head down again, this time pressing his lips to hers in fierce kiss. She was breathless when he released her and he gave her a tight smile before turning and hurrying down the hall, his footsteps silent, his movements quick and efficient, making as little noise as possible.

Elizabeth held herself perfectly still against the wall, her head tilted against the corner, listening for Jason's entry on the other side.

She heard one of them let out a small cry just moments later and knew what she had to do. She jumped out from around the corner and shared a glance and a nod with Jason, who was on the other side of the room. Then they opened fire.

Elizabeth came further into the room, firing at the smaller one, who had moved out of his hiding place to help his partner, who was under fire from Jason.

Through the screams in the room, Elizabeth was able to hear the smaller one cry out. "No fair! You can't use mom to double team us, dad!" Jake cried out, standing in the middle of the living room, dripping wet from the sprays of Elizabeth's water gun.

Jason and Elizabeth shared a smirk across the room.

"Yeah, no fair!" Cameron added, soaked to the skin as well from Jason's shots of water. "We totally had you dad, before mom came in!"

Jason shrugged his shoulders and gave his sons a sheepish grin. "I needed back up. And your mom came in at the perfect moment."

"Yeah, but mom shouldn't be a part of this!" Jake said, stomping his foot in agitation, looking so much like his mother at that moment that Jason's chest constricted with emotion.

"Why shouldn't I be?" Elizabeth asked, a smile of her own in place.

"Cause you're a girl, mom! Jeez!" Jake said, rolling his eyes.

"Right!" Cameron nodded his head emphatically in agreement.

Jason tilted his head to the side, chewing over his son's words. "So … what? Girls are the enemy?" he asked, a dead serious expression on his face.

Both boys spoke at once.

Jason nodded his head gravely and then turned to look at Elizabeth, who was watching, mouth agape. "I'm sorry. They make an excellent point," Jason said, bringing his water gun up to aim at Elizabeth.

"Yay!" Jake shouted, bringing his own water gun up to aim at his mother.

Cameron giggled in delight as he joined his father and brother.

"Wait a minute, wait a minute," Elizabeth said, backing up a step. "Don't you dare!"

Jason took one step towards her. "I'm sorry," he said again. "But I have to join forces with them now. Since you are the enemy."

"Jason …" Elizabeth said in a warning tone, taking another step back.

"You ready boys?" he said, another smirk appearing on his face.

"Ready dad," Cameron said.

"Ready!" Jake practically shouted, bouncing on his feet in excitement.

Elizabeth let out a squeal as the three of them opened fire on her, spraying her with water. She went running down the hallway, with Jake and Cameron following her, and Jason moving around to intercept her on the other side, all of them firing away, Elizabeth doing her best to return fire at them.

By the time their water guns were empty, Elizabeth was drenched, both of the boys were still wet, and Jason … Jason didn't have a drop of water on him.

"Enough!" Elizabeth shouted out, dripping water on the dining room floor.

Cameron and Jake collapsed against each other, giggling at the sight of their mother soaking wet and Jason's chest shook with held back laughter of his own.

Seeing his wife level a deadly glare at him, Jason took a deep breath. "Alright, boys. Upstairs. Bath time and then bed time."

"Aw, dad!" Jake whined.

"Now," Jason said quietly in response and both boys knew there was no arguing with him.

"Sorry mom," Cameron said, stopping by his mother to give her a kiss on the cheek. "But it had to be done."

Jake giggled behind Cameron. "Yeah, sorry mom," he said, kissing her cheek as well.

Once they were alone, Jason couldn't help but laugh again at the image of his wife.

"I can't believe you," Elizabeth muttered, wringing some of the water out of her scrubs top.

Jason shrugged his shoulders. "Had to be done," he said, echoing Cameron's words.

Elizabeth glared at him again and then muttered she was going to take a shower and get into bed herself.

Jason stayed behind to clean up the mess that had been made and then went up to the boy's bathroom to help them finish up their baths and then get in bed.

As he stepped into his bedroom, shutting the door behind him, he was surprised to find his wife in bed, wearing a wine-colored, lacy slip that barely covered her breasts and legs.

"Uh …" he began, unsure of what to say, feeling his blood warm up at the sight of her.

"You know," she said, gazing at him through hooded eyes. "There are other ways to get me wet, Jason."

Jason's mouth dropped open at her words and he hardened instantly, almost painfully in his jeans.

She gave him a sexy smile and patted the empty spot on the bed next to her.

Jason hurried over to the bed, his mouth going dry, his eyes roaming up and down his wife's silk and lace covered body.

Elizabeth pushed herself up next to him as he sat down and she wrapped one arm around his shoulders. "You were awfully naughty downstairs," she said, brushing her lips against his.

A sheepish grin appeared on Jason's face, but he remained silent.

"So I figured you wouldn't mind if I were a little naughty as well tonight," she said with a smirk.

Jason smiled and shook his head. "No, I don't mind."

"Good," she said, leaning forward again to kiss him. When she pulled back, an evil gleam appeared in her eyes. "Now let's see if we can get you wet, too, hm?"

Jason's brows drew down in confusion and then he gasped as his wife whipped her other arm out from under the covers, water gun in hand, and opened fire on her naughty husband.
